Jesus, a Love Letter

You are beside me, holding my hand; I remember you from my younger eyes, when I saw you clearer. But what matter is that, you are still here, though my eyes darkened for awhile, I found that after my rain and clouds passed, you were still there, shielding me still and always with your smile -- keeping me safe from elementary pain, dark fire, dire rain. I find you now in bird and flower, in sunny slopes and happy hours of life as it wanders on into You and the infinity of Presence. I yearn to catch a glimpse, a wink. Sometimes you send surrogates to my dreams with Noah or Moses riding high, having conversations in the sky. But the other night I felt your kiss; my forehead tendered by the soft-spread touch. I know I tell you this repeatedly, but still, it thrills me as the words purify -- melt my heart, washing away the tattered self each day anew: I love you.

Time for a new week of miracles!
Do we have still have eyes to see them?
No worries! We can get that back!
Take a moment here and now; take a
breath and knock on memories of younger
days --before the light began to dim, when
in growing up the world and its waters
covered our years and flooded our sight.

Our eyes now, are they still weak and weary --
blind to the miracles of life and love around?
Obscured by worries --heavy with the storm
of health, of relationships,of finances, of faith --
of self and surcease -- can we still see
our anchor and direction home?

Reach for the hand of the savior:
Jesus will lift us over those waves,
carrying us safely to harbor,
catching our tears in His heart,
wiping our tears with His love,
taking our burdens with His
saving grace; we are safe at last
in His peace profound.

After the tumult and the pain,
after the confusion and the rain,
look at the debris left behind:
Turn away, never again to
look back, never find need to return.

Shielded with Spirit strong,
kept safe from elementary pain,
we are bound to the rock of all ages;

With renewed eyes, that jaded
view, askew with its darkness and
worldly pride, its twisted morals and
worldly fear, drops its shattered illusion
away --Jesus saves and sight returns!

Come let us rejoice together at the miracles
of love and light, of our Father and His
kingdom in bird and flower, in sunny slopes
and happy hours! See the golden infinity?
The peace of Jesus' Presence?  Catch a glimpse,
catch a wink -- a nod of time. Awake to
the eyes of love.

In joy or at rest in sweetest sleep,
we feel His breath fold over us,
as coverings of love, of health --
a tapestry of grace.

Sweet Jesus!
Our foreheads tendered
by the touch divine. We say the prayer anew --
'Our Father...' The sound is altogether sacred,
purifying our hearts, recapturing our sight
from younger days: Washing away the tattered
selves: Once again we are God's children, pure of heart:

And so we end with 'In Thy name, amen.'
Jesus Christ, we love you.
